I'm Emily, and I wear many hats – I'm a Legal Recruiter, Podcast Host of Beyond the Legal Lens, Career Advisor, Certified Pilates Instructor, and the Founder of the Advocate’s Mic, a platform dedicated to mission-driven attorneys creating impactful initiatives for their communities. You might catch me juggling several of these roles simultaneously!

My journey in legal recruiting kicked off in the year 2000, unexpectedly at a rock climbing wall. A climbing partner, who happened to be an attorney at a top law firm in New York, suggested I might enjoy a career in legal recruitment. Intrigued, I gave it a shot, and my career commenced at one of the world’s premier law firms, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. It was an incredible place to learn and grow.

Fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit, I gradually ventured into other projects. In 2016, I made a pivot to the search firm side, bringing with me the expertise gained from recruiting in Big Law. A chance Facebook conversation about where to eat in Brooklyn led to an unexpected opportunity – a former colleague asked if I could assist his biotech company in finding a lawyer for their team. That's when my journey into the in-house recruitment process began.
